Flamborough Project

Positive Power Co-op started the Flamborough Project in November of 2002. A single turbine installation was planned for the site located at the top of a large drumlin in the Westover drumlin field. (A drumlin is a low, oval mound formed ages ago by an advancing glacier; wind speeds on top of a drumlin tend to be higher than the surrounding low lying areas.)

PPC worked with the Hamilton Conservation Authority on the project: PPC began measuring wind speeds while the HCA began the environmental assessment.

Circumstances surrounding the ownership of the land at the Flamborough Site changed, making the single-turbine project uneconomical. There may be an opportunity to develop a multi-turbine project in the future, but for now PPC is focusing on its Lake Erie Project.
