Positive Power Co-op (PPC) recruits volunteers from the community to fulfill a number of meaningful and productive roles within the organisation. In April 2005, PPC adopted the Canadian Code for Volunteer Involvement (PDF format) as a way to articulate our commitment to our volunteers.
PPC frequently gathers and uses personal information to communicate with our members and volunteers, educate and engage the community and promote our renewable energy projects. You can expect that PPC will protect your personal information and that any use of this information is subject to your consent.
Personal information is any information that can be used to distinguish, identify or contact a specific individual. It can include an individual's opinions or beliefs, as well as facts about, or related to, the individual. Exceptions are business contact information, and certain publicly available information, such as names, addresses and telephone numbers as published in telephone directories.
We treat your email addresses as personal information and will never sell or distribute it to an outside organization.
Personal information gathered by PPC is kept in confidence. We collect, use and disclose personal information only for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in light of the circumstances. We routinely offer individuals we deal with the opportunity to opt not to have their information shared for purposes beyond those for which it was explicitly collected.
Our personnel are authorized to access personal information based only on their need to deal with the information for the purpose(s) for which it was obtained. Safeguards are in place to ensure that the information is not disclosed or shared more widely than is necessary to achieve the purpose(s). We also take measures to ensure that the integrity of this information is maintained and to prevent its being lost or destroyed.
